EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- This Wednesday, the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) delivered 50 white canes to the France Hungary Foundation, within the framework of the “SeNaSa for all” program, for the benefit of people with visual disabilities.
The donation was made as part of the policy of Institutional Social Responsibility of SeNaSa, aimed at people who belong to the Association of People with Disabilities (Apedisan) of San Juan de la Maguana and the Olga Estrella Resource Center.
Santiago Hazim, executive director of SeNaSa said that: “As a socially responsible institution, we understand that it is our duty to collaborate with you to fulfill our social commitment to eliminate barriers.”
Hazim added that: “With these actions we seek to guarantee that mobility, independence and active participation in society are a reality for all people, regardless of their condition.”
For her part, Francina Hungary, president of the Foundation, expressed that: “This type of alliance is very important because we can reach those communities in the south and the border area that are ultimately the most vulnerable in the country.”
“This campaign started because we realized that inclusion and participation for people with blindness or low vision begins with the cane,” he encouraged.
According to SeNaSa, this action reflects the entity’s commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all, also complying with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) N.11, which promotes access to safe and inclusive public spaces for people with disabilities.
