EL NUEVO DIARIO, NEW YORK.- With the attendance of hundreds of basketball fans, a tournament was held this weekend on the field of Lehman College University, in the Bronx, dedicated to the transportation businessman and athlete in this city Roberto Rojas .
In this tournament the teams “Parque Hostos” and “La Matica” from the province of La Vega, in the Dominican Republic, faced each other. “Parque Hostos” triumphed with 78 points against 70 for “La Matica”.
Different authorities, businessmen, professionals, communicators, students, taxi drivers, merchants, ordinary citizens and athletes attended, among them the glory of Dominican sports, the basketball player José -Grillo- Vargas, who offers teachings to hundreds of young people in this discipline in the Great Apple
For his part, Congressman Adriano Espaillat, present at the activity, expressed that this type of event must be supported because it sends a positive message to our youth with any sporting discipline “healthy body and healthy mind”, “in addition we thank both teams that have visited us.”
While Rojas maintained: “the practice of physical activity not only helps maintain a healthy physical state, it also contributes to improving people’s mental health, working on concentration, increasing self-esteem and can even help reduce anxiety.”
He called on businessmen to support this type of tournament in favor of our youth, which will be recurring in the Big Apple.
For the first time in history, the number 1 Professional Basketball League of the DR, TBS La Vega, arrives.
The activity was organized by the “Love for Basketball” Association directed by Jalexis Fernández.
