Series A2. A stellar Cantù against Fortitudo in the name of Basile. Urania continuity

Pallacanestro Cantù achieved an important victory on Wednesday evening, clearly prevailing over Fortitudo Bologna with a score of 89-60 at the PalaDesio. A test of strength and unity that highlighted the growth of the group under the guidance of coach Nicola Brienza, who was satisfied at the end of the race: “I’m happy with the performance, especially for the intensity and attention we put. I believe this is the last step we need to always be competitive.” One of the key elements of this Cantù on the rise is Grant Basile (in the photo), author of 26 points in the match against Fortitudo. His situation, however, is evolving. Thanks to a naturalization procedure started in 2021 by Derthona Basket (which then sold the player to Cantù with a 1+1 contract) and recently concluded, Basile could obtain the status of an Italian player. The FIP regulation in fact allows this change of status during the championship in progress, if the athlete gets on the scoresheet in an official match of the Italian national team. Basile is among the 23 called up by Gianmarco Pozzecco for the November Italbasket window: if he were to play with Italy, Cantù could benefit by reopening the market for a new foreigner. Last night, finally, the fifth consecutive success arrived for Urania Milano: 74-63 at home against Brindisi which is worth third place together with Cantù and Udine.Alessandro Luigi Maggi
