Women’s table tennis star Shin Yu-bin (20, Korean Air) advanced to the round of 16 of the 2024 World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Frankfurt.
World No. 11 Shin Yu-bin defeated India’s Manaka Batra 3-0 (11-6 13-11 11-6) in the women’s singles round of 32 at the tournament held in Frankfurt, Germany on the 6th (Korean time) and advanced to the round of 16. As a result, Shin Yu-bin will face world number 15 Adriana Diaz (Puerto Rico) in the quarterfinals.
Shin Yu-bin faced Batra in the round of 32 and comfortably won the first set 11-6, and then won the second set, which was a deuce match, 13-11. Shin Yu-bin, who gained momentum, took the third set 11-6 and completed a no-loss set victory.
Joo Cheon-hee (Samsung Life Insurance) of the same women’s team also joined the round of 16 by sacrificing Liu Yang-ji (Australia), whom she defeated 3-1.
In the men’s division, Ahn Jae-hyun (Korea Exchange) defeated Rico’s Room (Australia) 3-0 and advanced to the round of 16, but Lim Jong-hoon (Korea Exchange) and Oh Jun-seong (Mirae Asset Securities) failed to pass the round of 32.
