Malaga – Jannik Sinner led the Italian tennis team to the semi-finals at the Davis Cup Finals. The world number one contributed two points to make it 2-1 in the quarter-finals against Argentina in Malaga. First, Sinner clearly won his singles against Sebastian Baez 6:2, 6:1, then together with Matteo Berrettini he defeated the two Argentinians Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 6:4, 7:5 in the doubles. Francisco Cerundolo gave Argentina the lead with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Lorenzo Musetti.
Sinner and Co. will face Australia in the semi-finals on Saturday. The Australians somewhat surprisingly beat the USA 2-1. Matthew Ebden and Jordan Thompson won the decisive point in doubles.
The German tennis team is fighting for a place in the final this Friday (5 p.m.). The opponents in the semi-finals are the Netherlands, who surprisingly won against Spain and thus ended Rafael Nadal’s career. Germany beat Canada 2-0.
