Double gold medal for Adrián Carabali in the under-19 category

The Auria Badminton Club competition team had a new event this past weekend, taking part in the Canary Islands Sub’11, Sub’13 and Sub’19 Championships that took place at the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe facilities, in Arrecife. Great performance in general terms by the 14 players of the club who took part in the regional competition, in which they won a total of six medals, and where the performance of Adrián Carabali stood out, who climbed to the top of the podium in the individual modality and in the mixed doubles of the under-19 category.
Guillermo Padrón, Isaac Rincón, Kaiwen Shi, Álvaro Guadalupe, Hugo De La Paz Paradas and Jacob López, participated in the under-11 category. Nerea Padrón and Yraya García took part in the under-13 category. In the under-19 category, Martina Negrín, Graciela Müggler, Adrián Carabali, Zhi Tao Li, Rubén Jorge and Rachel Beltre, represented the Auria Bádminton Club in the Canary Islands Championship. All of them were accompanied during the weekend by coaches Miguel Barbado, Jorge Oliverio Pérez and Oliver Gausmann.
Adrián Carabali completed a great tournament in the under-19 category that was developed under the direct elimination modality. The Auria Badminton Club player advanced to the semifinals by beating Saúl Fuentes (21-7, 21-9), Yeremi Inlago (21-4, 21-5) and César Mateo Camejo (21-9, 17-5) in the first rounds. 21, 21-15). In the semifinals he got rid of Pablo Pineda (21-12, 11-21, 21-16), the second seed in the tournament. And in the final, he beat Mateo de Luis (12-21, 21-16, 22-20), the number one seed, to win the gold medal.
The under-11 category was developed under the group stage and main draw system, with Álvaro Guadalupe winning the silver medal. In the group stage, he defeated Cristian Miguel Barrera (15-6, 15-12) and Raúl Peña (15-6, 15-7). He beat Pedro Hernández in the quarterfinals (15-9, 15-9) and reached the final by beating Aitor González (15-11, 15-13). And in the grand final, he lost in a very tight match against Manuel Cabrera (15-10, 20-21, 14-16).
The third medal at the individual level was achieved by Graciela Müggler in the under-19 category. The Auria Bádmiton Club player reached the semifinals by beating Daniela Rodríguez (21-9, 21-4), Paula Cubas (21-12, 21-8) and Judith García (21-16, 21-13), third tournament seed. And in the semifinal he could not beat Sulimar Cabrera (20-22, 10-21), settling for the bronze medal.
In the mixed doubles, the couple formed by Adrián Carabali and Judith García won the gold medal in the under-19 category. They reached the final by beating Ryan Max Torreblanca and Amanay Gómez (21-3, 21-5), and José Alejandro Ruiz and Miriam Cabrera (21-5, 21-11). And they won the gold by beating Ezequiel Arnaiz and María del Carmen Curbelo (21-18, 21-5).
The couple formed by Graciela Müggler and Martina Negrín won the bronze medal in the women’s doubles in the under-19 category. They beat Paula Cubas and Julia Gopar in the quarterfinals (21-8, 21-19), and lost in the semifinals against Sulimar Cabrera and Laura De León (10-21, 8-21).
The Auria Bádminton Club medal table was completed with the bronze medal won by Hugo de La Paz Paradas and Isaac Rincón in the men’s doubles of the under-11 category. In the group stage they beat Guayre Hernández and Gerald Santana (13-15, 19-17, 15-3), and Gorka Luján and Raúl Peña (15-5, 15-10). And in the semifinals, they fell to Cristian Miguel Barrera and Leiner Leonel Inlago (8-15, 2-15).
