Sky confirms it themselves! Broadcaster grabs TV rights

In addition to the Bundesliga rights, Sky is constantly fighting for the broadcast license for popular sports competitions. Now the pay TV channel’s customers can look forward to it.

There is good news for the sports-loving fans on Sky about the turn of the year. The company has grabbed the TV rights to a popular competition.

Sky secures TV rights

The United Cup – the successor competition to the ATP Cup – has been taking place since 2023. In the first year, Sky secured the TV rights for it. Last year, the team tournament with men’s, women’s and mixed games was not even shown on German television. But now tennis fans can look forward to it again.

The pay-TV broadcaster has confirmed that the United Cup will be broadcast again this year, reports “DWDL.de”. This year the tournament will be held in Australia from December 27th to January 5th, 2023.

The tennis tournament is now taking place for the third time ever. The matches will be played in Brisbane, Perth and Sidney. After a group phase, the knockout round is about making it to the final.

The first participants have been announced

18 nations qualified for the mixed event, initially competing against each other in groups of three. The good news for German tennis fans on Sky: Germany is also there. Alexander Zverev, Daniel Masur and Tim Pütz are competing in the men’s category. Laura Siegemund, Lena Papadakis and Vivian Heisen are the three German women who will fight for victory.

Germany, which is also the current title holder, is in Group E with China and Brazil. The top two in the group then qualify for the finals. Last year, the German tennis stars beat Poland in the final. Will Zverev and Co. succeed in defending their title?
