Jablonec football players won the 16th round of the Chance League on Saturday at home over the hot Baník 3:1. Although the Ostravas were leading on the ground of their North Bohemian rival, they lost the lead just before half-time, and after the break the home team added two more goals and celebrated. Defending champion Sparta will welcome Teplice from 16:00. Coach Ondřej Smetana will lead Slovácko against Mladá Boleslav for the first time. The duel between two ambitious teams in icy weather started with action. Baník had more of the game, which was shown mainly in the sequence after the 20th minute. However, not a single attempt resulted in a goal. Riga’s shot was headed over the goal, Michal Frydrych’s attempt from an angle from the center of Ewerton also ended up over, and Matěj Šín’s header after a corner kick went just wide with the help of the Jablonec defense. Baník’s activity paid off in the 35th minute, when he quickly combined from his own goal to the opponent’s half, where he got enough space in the goal to shoot Rigo, whose ground shot against the bar cheered the large crowd of Baník fans in the stands.
However, the guests did not manage to maintain their lead until the end of the half. In the last five minutes of the first half, Alegué came into the game due to Polidar’s injury. And it was he who took advantage of David Puskáč’s arc for the defense in the set-up. The Cameroonian handled the ball, bypassed the goalkeeper Jakub Markovic and cleared the ball into the net.
Just after 10 minutes of the second half, the score turned in favor of the home team. Alegué’s corner kick at the near post was found by Tekijaški, who headed the ball out of Marković’s reach. It could have been equalized in a few minutes, but Jablonec goalkeeper Jan Hanuš shined twice. He first saved Tekijaški from an own goal and then flashed against David Buchta’s header.
Baník’s subsequent pressure was cut short by coach Luboš Kozlo’s team with a goal five minutes before the end. For the second time in the match, Alegué came through, and in a very similar way. He perfectly timed his charge behind the defense and then went around Markovič, after which he played with several defenders who were defending on the goal line.
By the end of the match, however, they had not managed to do more, so the home team could rejoice in the very valuable three points, thanks to which they consolidated their position in the elite five.
Against Teplice, Sparta will commemorate 131 years since the founding of the club and, as is traditional, will play in special anniversary jerseys. Letenští have won only one of their last six games, lost four times during this streak and are 12 points behind leaders Slavia.
The sovereign leader from Eden will only play on Sunday against the hopelessly last České Budějovice.
