When delivering the opening speech of the IX Ordinary Congress of the youth branch of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola party, the JMPLA, the president said that the negotiations for the meeting are practically concluded.

In his words before the nearly 1,800 delegates and guests of the conclave, Lourenço commented that sport builds character and distances young people from bad social practices, in addition to preparing them to face the great challenges of life.

He added that over the years young Angolans have filled the country with pride with their triumphs in numerous cups and medals in different sports, with emphasis on basketball, handball, volleyball, tennis, mixed martial arts, judo, karate, jiu-jiu. jitsu, swimming, football, athletics, Paralympic sports and chess.

In this scenario, the performance of the national football team in the recent African Cup of Nations (CAN) stood out, which makes the entire country more motivated for the CAN in Morocco next year.

“Taking advantage of this good moment of our team, we understand, within the framework of the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of National Independence, to invite the Argentine soccer team, the team of world soccer giants Diego Maradona and Leonel Messi, to come to Angola,” the president announced.

He added that “the negotiations are essentially closed, which allows us to take advantage of this youth meeting, to share good news, which will undoubtedly bring joy to football lovers, sports lovers and Angolans in general.”

He said that in the case of the country, soccer is the mass sport that runs through the veins of the people, since it is related to the neighborhood and the essence of the town.

The IX Ordinary Congress of the JMPLA began this Thursday and runs until November 23, the date on which the organization celebrates its 62 years.

This is a conclave that aims to adapt the JMPLA to new times, strengthen its bases and promote greater capacity to attract and mobilize Angolan youth, not only for the development of the country, but also for the preservation of peace and national unity.

The appointment will also elect a new leadership of the organization.
