Markus Söder uses the NFL game in Munich for a humorous conversation. He explains his decision to pursue a football position.
Munich – Markus Söder is known for enjoying showing off at major sporting events. This was also the case at the Munich Game, the NFL guest game in Munich’s Allianz Arena. During the second quarter, he gave an entertaining interview on the sidelines in which he also assessed his potential role as a football player.
Söder expresses enthusiasm for the NFL guest appearance in Munich
During a short live broadcast to the sidelines, RTL field reporter Jana Wosnitza asked the Bavarian Prime Minister the first question, which gave him the opportunity to convey his message. Wosnitza wanted to know what significance the Carolina Panthers game against the New York Giants has for Munich and the Free State.
Söder was of course happy about the NFL guest appearance and talked about his childhood “next to a US hospital”. There he “already learned a little bit about what football is,” which was further enhanced by “American drinks.” The fact that US sport was taking place in the Munich arena for the second time was a reason for the CSU politician to be happy. “Football is coming home to Munich,” was his humorous, German-English message.
Markus Söder sees himself in the best position in one position on the football field
After Söder answered the first question rather seriously, RTL football expert Markus Kuhn asked him what position he would take on the football field. The fact that Kuhn addressed the Prime Minister with a familiar “Markus” did not seem to bother or irritate Söder.
Although Söder noted that he could “physically push quite a bit,” which would more likely indicate an offensive tackle, he sees himself more as a quarterback due to his position “as prime minister.” While Söder’s food series “#soederisst” could probably continue as an offensive tackle, he would probably have to make some adjustments if he wanted to pursue a second career as a quarterback.
While the Bavarian Prime Minister only spoke positively about the NFL’s guest appearance in Munich, there was mostly scorn and ridicule from the USA. (sch)
