CAMPOBASSO. November 21st has long been a very special day for all the Carabinieri of Italy, as it is the feast of the Patron Saint of the Force, the “Virgo Fidelis”, as well as the anniversary of the “Battle of Culqualber” now in its 83rd year. and “Orphan Day”.

This year the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Campobasso celebrated the “Celestial Patroness” with a solemn mass in the capital, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The religious function, which took place in the afternoon, was celebrated by Monsignor Biagio Colaianni, Metropolitan Archbishop of Campobasso – Bojano.

The highest civil and military officials of the province of Campobasso, a representation of Carabinieri from the Provincial Command and the Carabinieri Cadet School of Campobasso, as well as the National Carabinieri Association and Forestry. The words of the Bishop who in his homily compared the loyalty of the Carabinieri, blessed daily by God in carrying out their service, to that of the Holy Virgin Mary, also blessed and chosen by the Lord, were very heartfelt and significant.

At the end of the religious ceremony, the Commander of the Carabinieri Legion “Abruzzo and Molise”, Brigadier General Antonino Neosi, after thanking all the Authorities present, reiterated the loyalty that has always distinguished the Carabiniere. The Senior Officer also recalled that every 21 November also marks the anniversary of the Battle of Culqualber, where the Carabinieri fought to the extreme in defense of a stronghold in Africa. The General’s speech concluded by highlighting the solidarity that has always accompanied the Army towards the orphans of those killed in service. The singing framework that accompanied the entire celebration was curated by some students of the Carabinieri School of Campobasso.
