Zak Berger, Félix Desjardins, Samuelle Tremblay and Jade Pelletier, from Club Les Cyclones de Rimouski, had an enriching experience during the Canadian Neo-Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championship, presented last weekend in Rivière-du-Loup .
The event brought together the 60 best male and female skaters aged 14 and 15 in the country at the Stade de la Cité des Jeunes.
Berger had very good performances in the 500 meters, he who was at work in group C. He dominated all the qualifying rounds to take 4th place in the group during the final.
The Rimouski resident also won the B final of the 1000 meters to allow him to finish 47th in the general classification.
In the same 1000 meter final, Desjardins placed 5th, just like in the 500 meter final. His performances give him 51st place in the general classification.
Zak Berger and Félix Desjardins participated in their first Canadian championship.
Among the girls, Tremblay finished her weekend in 35th place in the general women’s ranking, returning after being bothered by an injury slowing down her start to the season.
His good results in the 1500 meters allowed him to reach the A final of his group in order to regain several positions in his ranking.
For his part, Pelletier completed the event in 57th position. The 15-year-old skater was making her first appearance in a national competition.
Youth Cup and Vives-Lames Festival
During the first stage of the Long Track Youth Cup circuit organized at the Intact Assurance Ice Center in Quebec City, on November 2-3, Charlie Tremblay achieved an excellent 6th place in the general classification, while finishing 4th in the mass start.
Among the 11 year old boys, Jules Vignola also took 6th place, while William Landry finished in 9th position and Eliot Lebel finished 9th among the 12 year old skaters.
Other members of the Cyclones participated in the Festival des Vives-Lames long track in Lévis.
Léonie Beauvais won a bronze medal in the cumulative ranking of group 3, category 8-9 years old.
