Sport against gender violence: policemen tell their stories. This was the theme of the convivial Panathlon International Club of Luccawhich took place on Monday (November 25) atAntica Trattoria Stefani in San Lorenzo a Vaccolion the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The first manager of the Lucca police headquarters participated in the evening Virgil Russo and the superintendent Rosy degli Innocentialso a judo champion, who they spoke with Lodovica Giorgi, member of Panathlon and expert lawyer on these issues.
During the convivial meeting, three new members were also introduced: Alessandra Nieri, Achille Dall’Aglio and Stefano Martini.
The meeting was opened by the sports councilor of the municipality of Capannori Serena Frediani and by the president of the Panathlon Club Lucca Lucius Noble. The admission ceremony of three new members then took place, who then participated in the convivial as “members by right”.
Alessandra Nieri boasts more than thirty years of experience in the world of sport, which began in 1993 with the start of its collaboration with the CONI provincial committee of Lucca. Since then he has had important roles in various sporting bodies (Coni, Sport and health etc) and has carried out relevant projects also at a regional level.
Achille Dall’Aglioan engineer, played football at a competitive level (particularly in the years from 1959 to 1971) and basketball at an amateur level. He can also boast an activity as manager of the amateur association Sporting Club Porta Elisathen contributing to the drafting of the code of ethics for young athletes.
Stefano Martini he practiced motocross, karting, rallying and uphill speed at a competitive level; at a non-competitive level paragliding, enduro and sailing. He collaborated with the Moto Club Lucca and was a founding member of the Karting Club Lucca and the Club Altatensione (paragliding). He created and followed projects related to other sports such as powerboating and volleyball.
After the official presentation by the journalist Sirio Del Grande and the president of the Member Admission Commission Enrico Turelli, the president Lucio Nobile gave the club badge and the related handbook to Nieri, Dall’Aglio and Martini. The three new members then read the Panathlete card, thanked for the welcome and expressed their satisfaction with joining the club.
With the moderation of the lawyer Lodovica Giorgi, the first manager of the Lucca police station Virgilio Russo and the superintendent Rosy Degli Innocenti then addressed the topic of gender violence and how the police is organized in this area.
The meeting highlighted the importance of prevention measures such as the mandatory expulsion order with a ban on return, warnings for domestic violence, persecutory acts and bullying. These tools allow the authorities to intervene quickly in situations of social danger, without the long lead times of the criminal trial, based on an assessment of the concrete and current danger.
The increase in complaints filed at the police station by women victims of physical and psychological violence, mistreatment and stalking and their knowledge of the warning prevention tool demonstrates how there has been an evolution in culture: it is therefore necessary continue with these activities to educate and train adults and young people.
To combat and prevent the phenomenon, the police must be fully committed, having been on the front line for some time with information campaigns, staff training and the use of technologies and tools to support victims.
In Lucca, as in other police stations, a protected listening room has been createdto provide the best conditions to create dialogue and empathy with the abused person: a difficult, often painful, path of “liberation”, which excludes the repetition of violence or secondary victimization with the devaluation of the violence suffered.
The police today has a section specialized in the repression of crimes that are based on gender discriminationwith qualified and trained staff to deal with complaints that require sensitivity, willingness to listen and multidisciplinary preparation.
During the evening there was also talk of “sport against gender violence”, starting from the competitive activity of Superintendent Rosy Degl’Innocenti, recognized by the Ministry of the Interior as a police personal defense instructor, by the Italian Judo Wrestling Federation karate martial arts as a judo coach, as well as a third level MGA (Global Self-Defense Method) instructor.
Degl’Innocenti also achieved important competitive results between 1990 and 1998 (trophies in the Italian cadet, junior and university championships) and then in 2024 at national and European level in the Master category.
βIt was an interesting and instructive evening β he highlights the president of the Panathlon of Lucca Nobile β and I sincerely thank the representatives of the Police for their participation and their contribution. I am also happy with the three new entries, who certainly enrich our clubβ.
