For tennis professional Laura Siegemund, the hope of a third individual title on the WTA tour has been dashed. In the semifinals of the hard court tournament in Jiujiang/China, the 36-year-old lost to Slovakian Rebecca Sramkova 6:7 (4:7), 2:6. Siegemund had previously celebrated three two-set wins, including against Tamara Korpatsch.
In September, Siegemund had already lost the final of the WTA tournament in Hua Hin, Thailand against Sramkova, and the German also lost out against the number two seed in only the second duel. Sramkova converted her second match point after 2:13 hours. Siegemund is still waiting for her first individual title since 2017, when she triumphed in Stuttgart.
