The Estepona City Council informs that a representation of students from the Municipal Sports School for Seniors of the El Carmen Sports Center and the Active Participation Centers will travel on November 19 to the neighboring town of Guaro, accompanied by two municipal technicians, to participate in the XXV Meeting of Seniors in Sports organized by the Sports area of the Provincial Council of Malaga.
The activity has the objective of promoting coexistence and active aging through sports practice, and will bring together nearly 2,000 people from 63 municipalities in the province in the six meetings that will be held between the months of October and November.
The meetings began on October 23 in Campillos and continued on November 6 in Cuevas del Becerro, on November 7 in Algarrobo, on November 12 in Villanueva del Rosario, and on November 19 in Guaro, until concluding on November 26 in Casabermeja.
Between 8 and 15 municipalities participate in each of the meetings. Participants, in groups of 20 people, rotate through a circuit of activities that includes games with rackets, baskets and balls, weight exercises and balance, skill and coordination courses. After a break, there is a collective dance activity and strength exercises with elastic bands. The day ends with breathing control and relaxation exercises.
The participants in this program are people over 60 years of age enrolled in municipal physical activity programs and, once a year, they can put into practice the knowledge acquired at provincial meetings, leisure and coexistence days that also serve to promote social relations between neighbors from different municipalities of the province.
