Super Bowl: This is how much TV channel Fox collects for a 30-second commercial

Follow us on:

Super Bowl LIX will take place on February 9, 2025 in New Orleans. Then the two best NFL teams meet in front of 83,000 spectators in the ultra-modern Caesars Superdome and fight for the legendary Vince Lombardi Trophy, which has been awarded since 1967.

Who will win the Super Bowl 2025? Can the Kansas City Chiefs defend their NFL title with superstar Patrick Mahomes? In addition to this exciting question, all football fans also look every year at how much a 30-second commercial on US TV costs.

Super Bowl: 30-second commercial costs seven million dollars

At the first Super Bowl in 1967, a 30-second commercial cost just $37,500. An absolute bargain price, even if you take inflation data into account. As of 2023, a 30-second commercial costs seven million dollars on US television. Nothing will change in 2025.

At Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, TV broadcaster Fox is once again charging seven million dollars for a 30-second commercial. This price has remained constant for three years, something that has never happened before in Super Bowl history. Otherwise, prices have continued to rise since 1967.

The million dollar mark for a 30-second commercial on US television was broken for the first time in 1995. The two million dollar mark was broken for the first time in 2009, the five million dollar mark in 2017 and the seven million dollar mark in 2023.

TV station Fox earns almost $600 million from Super Bowl advertising

The commercial clips for the Super Bowl have been the most expensive commercials on US TV for many years because the most viewers traditionally tune in to the NFL finale. TV channels like Fox pay well for this, especially since they shell out a lot of money for the TV rights and experts like Tom Brady himself.

Fox owns the Super Bowl rights for 2025, 2029 and 2032. Fox Sports pays $2.5 billion per season to the NFL for its TV broadcasts. Fox last showed the Super Bowl in 2023. At that time, Fox earned almost $600 million from advertising on Super Bowl LVII.
