Under the leadership of the excellent referee Angelo Kiel, SVIJ started the match energetically and after three minutes it should have been a hit when Sem van der Heul appeared alone in front of Waterloo goalkeeper Ali Al Kueb after an excellent pass from Dannick Stoker, who managed to make an excellent save. to take. SVIJ certainly continued to have the upper hand in the last fifteen minutes before half-time and the defense with Denzel Meijer and Mats Wanders did not get into any problems. However, SVIJ no longer created any real opportunities, so the halftime score was 0-0.
After the break, basically the same game pattern. SVIJ tried to play football and Waterloo did well defensively. In the 62e minute it was Abass Al Ikaili who found Dion Adema in the penalty area, his effort was saved by SVIJ keeper Remy Heruer, but Raoul van den Berghe managed to score 1-0 for the home team from the rebound. So SVIJ had to work hard, but did not create any opportunities. A foul by Dion Adema on Rayan Meerval 25 meters from the Waterloo goal was punished by referee Kiel with a yellow card. This resulted in a small shout of joy from Terrasvogels coach Bryan Wijker, because Adema has been suspended for the Waterloo match against Terrasvogels next week.

A disappointing derby that was sporty, with only 4 yellow cards, distributed fairly between both teams. After the match, of course, there was joy at SVIJ, but Waterloo also dealt with the painful defeat well, which meant that it was still very pleasant at the sports park for a long time, partly due to the singer who is now customary at almost all matches.
