Harvey won gold in the 400m medley at the last two World Cups, held in China and South Korea. A third victory in as many races would have earned him a check for US$10,000 presented by World Aquatics on Friday.

“I’m happy, but not satisfied,” said Mary-Sophie Harvey, whose time of 4 min 25.33 sec represents a new personal best.

“It’s my best performance ever, a second faster than last week, but I finished second and I didn’t get the crown for winning three times in a row. The fact remains that I am one second behind the Olympic medalist! With a few months to relearn how to swim the 400m medley and gain confidence, it bodes well for the World Championships [en grand bassin]next July. »

Grimes, who was absent from the first two World Cup stops, clocked 4:24.19. The Japanese Waka Kobori won bronze in 4 min 30.07 s, in this event that Mary-Sophie Harvey had put aside for the last five years.

It’s motivating to start this event again, to see that I can race with the best in the world and possibly aim for a medal in this one.

The Trifluvienne also received a second medal in Singapore after the silver in the 400m freestyle collected the day before.

“I was a little disappointed with the race, even though it was my second best performance ever. I expected to do a little better. At the same time, that’s a lot of competitions in a row, several races in a row. All in all, I’m not too disappointed, but the gold medal would have been nice! » underlined Harvey, who now has eight medals in 12 races since October 18.

« [Le 400 m libre]it’s an event that I’m learning to swim again. This is the second time I’ve swum under the 4 minute mark, so it fits well in my preparation for the short course worlds. »

Mary-Sophie Harvey will be competing in the 100m freestyle on Saturday, concluding her trip to Asia. She will then turn her attention to the Short Course World Championships which will take place from December 10 to 15 in Budapest, Hungary.
