The Chihuahua University of Baseball continues its mission of supporting local talent by following up and supporting three young Chihuahuan baseball players who are currently concentrated in the Talent Academy elite camp “Prospects of the South”in El Tejar, Veracruz. These players, Jesús Iván Martínez Güereque, Leonardo Rodríguez Parra and Jorge Alberto Robles Saldaña They have been selected to participate in a high-performance program that seeks to open the doors to professional baseball.
Recently, the three players participated in a showcase held in Zumpango, State of Mexico. This event was organized specifically to present promising young people, brought together 18 scouts from Major League Baseball (MLB) organizationsrepresentatives of teams such as Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, Anaheim Angels, Boston Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates. In addition, evaluators from the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies and Toronto Blue Jays were present.

During the showcase, these young baseball players had the opportunity to exhibit their physical and technical skills in front of a demanding and highly selective audience. Scouts evaluated fundamental aspects such as speed, throwing accuracy, defensive skills and offensive potential.
This exhibition is an invaluable opportunity, since players not only seek to attract the attention of organizations, but also receive feedback that allows them to continue improving and reach the level that professional baseball demands, which is the main objective of the creation of this sports institution that the state government implemented.
