Tatum makes Boston win at the siren, Milwaukee loses again

A buzzer-beating shot from Jayson Tatum gave champion Boston a victory over Toronto, and Milwaukee lost again, by one point, to Charlotte on Saturday in the NBA.

Untenable at the start of the season, Jayson Tatum put on his hero cape by hitting a difficult 3-point shot at the buzzer to win Boston against Toronto (126-123 after overtime), to the delight of the TD Garden.

“I missed so many shots in the second period, I had to make one,” appreciated Tatum, author of 24 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists, who had previously missed a first match point at the siren of the 4th quarter time.

Jaylen Brown led the scoring for the Celtics with 27 points, compared to Jakob Pöltl’s 35 points for Toronto.

Boston thus maintains its 2nd place in the standings in the East with 11 wins and 3 defeats.

. Milwaukee loses by one point

Despite the first triple double of the season for Giannis Antetokounmpo (22 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists), Milwaukee suffered a 9th defeat (4 victories), this time by one point in Charlotte (115-114), carried by LaMelo Ball (26 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists).

Antetokounmpo, MVP 2019 and 2020, crushed a furious dunk of which he is accustomed 1 min 26 from the end, before distributing the ball well to his teammates, then missing the match point with a mid-distance shot, after two free throws from Ball.

Frenchman Moussa Diabaté, widely used for four games, stood out with a second consecutive double-double, 12 points and 14 rebounds including 10 offensive rebounds in 24 minutes. Tidjane Salaün scored 3 points in 9 minutes of play.

. Davis and Fox stay hot

The day after a major performance against San Antonio, Anthony Davis once again led the Los Angeles Lakers to victory, on the floor of the New Orleans Pelicans (104-99).

The All-Star pivot accumulated 31 points and 14 rebounds, allowing the Lakers to erase a poor first period and make the difference in the 4th quarter.

LeBron James scored 21 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and sent 5 assists for a 5th consecutive success for the Lakers, at the top of the table in the West (9 wins – 4 losses).

Author of 60 points on Friday, De’Aaron Fox followed up on Saturday with 49 points (and 9 assists) to bring the Sacramento Kings to success against the Utah Jazz (121-117).

. Wembanyama rested, Spurs beaten

French phenomenon Victor Wembanyama was rested by the San Antonio Spurs after suffering a blow to his right knee Friday during a duel against Anthony Davis.

Without him, the Spurs were largely dominated by Dallas (110-93) and Kyrie Irving (22 points), despite a more discreet evening than usual for Luka Doncic (16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists).
