Tedesco: Italy offers “smooth football” – Daddy Mood
Daddy Maud writes: Domenico Tedesco, coach of the Belgium national team, expressed his admiration for the performance of the Italian national team and the “smooth football” it presented after its player Sandro Tonali’s goal during the two teams’ match in the European Nations League.
The Italian national team defeated its host, Belgium, 1-0, on Thursday evening, in the fifth (penultimate) round of the second group in the first level of the continental competition in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
The Italian national team advanced to the round of 8 in the tournament, after raising its score to 13 points in the lead, with a difference of 3 points in front of its closest competitor, the French national team, while the Belgian national team’s balance froze at 4 points in third place.
The Italian national team owes great credit for achieving this victory to Tonali, who scored the only goal of the match in the 11th minute, scoring his first international goal with the Azzurri national team.
Despite the intense attack of the Belgian national team in order to equalize, the Italian national team kept a clean sheet, especially after the left post blocked a header from Foot-Weiss in the second half.
Tedesco told the Italian television network Rai Sport after the match: “It is a shame that we lost tonight, because the players did their best.”
He added: “We did not start the match well, and there was not enough ferocity in the performance during the first 20 minutes. Italy plays very fluid football. “You can see the ability to keep the ball and a lot of confidence in themselves.”
He added: “However, we allowed them to score against us very easily.”
The Belgian national team coach noted: “We were missing a lot of key players, but we played a good second half. “In fact, even the first half wasn’t too bad except for the first 20 minutes.”
Tedesco stressed: “The Italy national team is in really good shape, and when they perform like this with a lot of one-touch play, it becomes difficult to put pressure on them.”
Tedesco was born in Italy, and moved with his family to Germany at the age of three, but he still stresses that he supports the Italian national team when he is not its direct opponent.
The Italian national team only needs a draw point in its match against its guest, the French national team, at the “San Siro” stadium in the Italian city of Milan, on Sunday. To ensure that he ends his career in the group in the lead.
