Tennis: Dev Javia reaches semi-finals of ITF Kalaburagi Ovens

Tennis News: Seventh-seeded Indian player Dev Javiya reached the semi-finals of the ITF Kalaburagi Open in Karnataka on Friday after his rival Siddharth Rawat withdrew from the competition on medical grounds.

Jawiya was leading 1-0 in the first set of this quarterfinal match when Rawat sought medical help due to dizziness and later withdrew from the match. Javia will face the challenge of top seed Khumoyun Sultanov in the semi-final match on Saturday. Uzbekistan’s Sultanov defeated Russia’s Maxim Zhukov 6-2, 6-3.

Earlier, sixth seeded American Nick Chappell ended the campaign of fourth seeded Indian Karan Singh by defeating him 7-5, 6-2. Chappell will face second seed Bogdan Bobrov in the semi-finals. This Russian player defeated fifth seed Aryan Shah 7-5, 6-3.

Chappell also made an impact in the doubles match and secured a ticket to the finals. The pair of him and Nitin Kumar Singha defeated the Indian pair of Rishabh Agarwal and Kabir Hans 6-2, 6-3.

Defeated top seeds Igor Agafonov and Bobrov in the final against the pair of players from India and America. This Russian pair defeated the Indian pair of Vishnu Vardhan and Siddhant Banthila 2-6, 6-3, 11-9.
