Niemeier and Siegemund lose

In the first set, Niemeier received the decisive break at 3:4 and was no longer able to turn the round around. In the second set she lost four more service games, breaking Raducanu’s serve twice herself. Ultimately, Niemeier had to admit defeat after the sixth match point and 1:55 hours.

Siegemund had a bad day and never really got into the game. For them it was over after just 70 minutes.

The last time was in the quarterfinals in 2019

The German team wanted to reach the quarterfinals of the competition, which was once called the Fed Cup, for the first time since 2019. Due to the defeat, Niemeier and Co. missed Germany’s 100th victory over Great Britain. A selection from the German Tennis Federation (DTB) has won the trophy twice in history – in 1987 and 1992 with Steffi Graf.
