Tennis idol – Kerber misses the competition – future plans with the DTB? – Sports

Berlin (dpa) – After a successful tennis career, Angelique Kerber would like to pass on her experiences to the youth and the new generation. “The DTB has already inquired,” said the 36-year-old in ZDF’s “Aktuelle Sportstudio”. The three-time Grand Slam tournament winner explained that discussions with the German Tennis Association are still in the early stages. “I think there is definitely a future there. I definitely want to stay loyal to tennis.”

Kerber ended her career at the end of July after her quarter-final defeat at the Olympic Games in Paris. Now, three months later, she misses playing tennis. “I loved being on the pitch and fighting to win or lose.” However, she doesn’t miss the daily training and getting up early. Her daughter Liana (2), family and friends are currently her priority. “I look forward to it every day.” She has adjusted well to the new structures in her life after tennis. “I had time to prepare for it. I have spoken to many players and athletes who have already quit.” They “also prepared them a little bit for what was to come,” said the former world number one.
