The Australian and US Open winner leads the ranking by a wide margin.
Zverev started 2024 in seventh place. He was number two for three weeks in September before slipping down one place again.
With his success in Paris he now gained 910 points. Zverev climbed to second place in the world rankings for the first time in June 2022.
Zverev is still waiting for a title at a Grand Slam tournament, but this year he came very close at the French Open: the 27-year-old lost to Alcaraz in the final.
Siegemund is improving significantly
Zverev’s opponent in the final, Humbert, made it back into the top 15 thanks to his entry into the final in Paris. The Frenchman pushed Hubert Hurkacz to 16th place in the rankings.
In the women’s category, Laura Siegemund improved from place 101 to 83 thanks to her semi-finals at the WTA tournament in Jiangxi, making her the best-placed German in the world rankings.
