The 12 days of action against violence against women: Conference and awareness workshops offered in the region

Mauricie-et-Centre-du-Québec, November 4, 2024 — The Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec Integrated University Health and Social Services Center (CIUSSS MCQ) and all the partner members of the intersectoral committee on sexual assault and domestic violence offer training activities. raising awareness as part of the 12 days of action against violence against women.

This annual campaign takes place between November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and December 6 (National Day of Remembrance and Action Against Violence Against Women) to pay tribute to the victims of the Polytechnique.

“The activities taking place as part of the 12 days of action highlight a reality of which the population is becoming increasingly aware; women are victims of numerous acts of violence, perpetuated against them, because they are women. Thanks to the different waves of denunciation of sexual violence and feminicide, to events which mark important dates such as that of the Polytechnique tragedy and to publicized awareness campaigns, victims’ voices are gradually being freed. Shame is changing sides,” says Camille Souza, coordinator at CALACS in Trois-Rivières.

A conference from Mrs. Nathalie Trottier, survivor, will take place on December 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Nicolet national police academy.
