November 22, 2024
Apu Old Wild West Udine overwhelming! The Bianconeri prevailed at the Pala AGSM AIM against Tezenis Verona 64-92 in a match that had no balance from the first minutes.
The starting quintet lined up by coach Vertemati: Bruttini, Hickey, Johnson, Ikangi and Alibegovic.
The Bianconeri started off strong with Hickey and Alibegovic scoring the first eleven points but Verona responded with the two former players Cannon and Esposito (4-11). Hickey has a very hot hand (ten points in less than five minutes) and continues to score, bringing Apu up 10 with a triple and forcing coach Ramagli to time out. The hosts try to come back with Udom but Pini finds Alibegovic very well in the corner and three points for Udine (7-17). First quarter ending at 12-23. Second partial which resumes following the same script. The Bianconeri spin the ball well and with great speed, while Verona relies on the plays of the individuals to try to close the gap (24-35). But Johnson takes care of starting another breakthrough with a vigorous two-handed dunk and then Alibegovic from three twice (5/6 for him from the arc up to this moment) put Udine on +17. Ikangi adds to the scoreboard with a triple and Hickey leads the teams to halftime at 27-48.
At the beginning of the third quarter Apu starts again with the same energy and after two minutes of the partial goes to +29, forcing coach Ramagli to time out again (31-60). The match is now on the right track for Udine, with Verona not having the strength to respond and unable to reduce the thirty-point deficit. A bomb from Da Ros from mid-court at the siren closes the third quarter at 47-76. The last partial is just a catwalk for the Bianconeri who manage the lead with great ease and Hickey increases his personal score, confirming himself as still captivating. It ends 64-92 at the Pala AGSM AIM and tenth victory in the championship for Apu. Appointment now at PalaCarnera against JuVi Cremona on Sunday 1 December.
