Arezzo, 13 November 2024 – The Arezzo Basketball School awarded at the Tuscan basketball festival. Villa Guicciardini in Cantagallo hosted the end-of-season ceremony where, in the presence of the national federal president Giovanni Petrucci, awards were given to all the victorious teams in regional championships and cups, as well as to referees, managers and coaches capable of making a contribution to the growth of the movement.
In this exceptional context, Sba was also present and was awarded four awards as evidence of a 2024 to remember for the youth sector of the club which, from Under13 to Under19, managed to confirm itself among the best basketball teams of central Italy.
Particular applause went to the technical manager of the Arezzo club, Umberto Vezzosi, who was awarded a plaque for saving the life of a boy who fell ill during a match: the episode occurred last September when the timely intervention was providential of the technician who, promptly and coldly, managed to resuscitate a seventeen-year-old athlete in cardiac arrest through the use of a defibrillator.
The other prizes went to the Under15 Rosini Gold and the Under14 Elite for their victories in their respective regional championships and to the Under13 for their success in the Tuscan Cup, with a representation of the basketball players from the three teams who also experienced the emotions of meeting some great champions of the past such as Giacomo Galanda (European champion in 1999 and silver medal at the 2004 Olympics).
«This ceremony – comments Mauro Castelli, president of the Sba, – reiterated the excellent moment experienced by Tuscan basketball in terms of growth in numbers and improvement in results. We are proud to be able to actively contribute to this phase of development with a corporate model capable of pursuing the culture of sport at 360°, from the training of technicians to victories on the field.”
