After fourteen years at the head of the sports association, Christian Gachassin hands over. Pierre Artigue will now replace him.
It was on the occasion of the club’s general assembly that Christian Gachassin announced his departure, in the presence of Claude Cazabat, mayor of Bagnères, Karen Baqué-Haunold, deputy and president of the Municipal Sports Office, and Philippe Bélou, president of the Occitanie tennis league. Moment charged with emotion when discussing the developments that the club has experienced during these 14 years of presidency.
A president in contact
Christian Gachassin will have left his mark on the club with his commitment. Close to the members, he never stopped working to promote tennis in Bagnères. Attached to his city, he knew how to make it shine through his International Tennis Championships, each year raising the level of the competition as well as his reputation. As close to the champions, whom he knows and rubs shoulders with, as to the licensees or even to the many volunteers involved in the club, he was able to unite all the members behind him. His departure certainly marks a turning point and everyone agrees that there will be a before and an after Christian Gachassin. The signs of affection shown to him by the members during this meeting attest to this, such as the trophy offered by Pierre Artigue, at the time of the transfer of power.
Artigue, a name that the TCBB knows well
Now president of the TCBB, it is with emotion that Pierre Artigue succeeds Christian Gachassin. The two men have known each other well for a very long time. The outgoing president was also delighted to see Pierre succeed him. A committed sportsman and tennis player, the latter has always been very involved in the life of the club. As with his predecessor, the TCBB is also a family affair for him since his father Michel was himself, in his time, a president who left his mark on the century-old club. The emotion was palpable at his mention. There is no doubt that with his team, Pierre will also mark the history of the Bagnérais Tennis Club, and will continue to make it evolve and shine under his presidency.
The future of tennis also involves padel
The presence of the mayor and his assistant for sports, as well as the president of the Occitanie tennis league during this general assembly, was also the opportunity, by addressing the future, to discuss the construction of future padel courts in Bagneres. A sport in full evolution, a real objective for the TCBB and the development of the practice of tennis in the spa town, the construction of these new courts is the subject of debates which all Bagnerais tennis players hope to see a favorable outcome.
