After several weeks of uncertainty, and some whispered questions, it was confirmed that the BCLA will have a new edition. Given the confirmed withdrawal of several teams, and the little information (a little less than a month after making the initial leap) the protagonists had doubts about whether it would finally be carried out. Finally, some invitations were issued from FIBA and on Tuesday afternoon the 12 teams that will be present were made official.

The 12 teams represent seven countries in the region: Boca Juniors, Instituto and Quimsa from Argentina; SESI Franca, Flamengo and Minas Tenis from Brazil; Los Leones de Chile School; Paisas BC and Toros del Valle de Colombia; Real Estelí of Nicaragua; Chiriquí bulls from Panama; and Bigua from Uruguay. The opening match is scheduled for December 11 in Santiago del Estero, Argentina, at the home of defending champion Quimsa, the only team with two titles (2019-20 and 2023-24) in BCL Americas history.

The competition format:

The BCLA competition format is maintained compared to previous editions of the tournament. Four groups, made up of three teams each. Three “windows” will be played in December, January and February, where each of the clubs will have the possibility of being at home against their rivals in the group. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals in March. The quarterfinals will feature best-of-three series: Game 1 hosted by the lowest ranked team and Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) hosted by the highest ranked team. The winners of these series will advance to the Final Four.
