When it was clear on Wednesday morning that Donald Trump had won the American elections and the Berlin government collapsed in the evening, there seemed to be little attention left for Dresden. On the same day, the BSW announced the termination of the explorations with the CDU and SPD. Since then, those involved have been striving for sovereignty in interpretation, including Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU). On Friday, he also emphasized to journalists that he “doesn’t want to follow suit,” but rather wants “trusting” relationships. Kretschmer will probably have to rely on this in the future, because he is now aiming for a minority government in Saxony.
