For this 2024 edition of the French elite judo championships, it was the setting of the Colisée de Chalon sur Saône which rolled out its red carpet… and let’s say it straight away… the success is without doubt possible.
For those who were still hesitant about going to the Coliseum throughout the weekend, you still have this Sunday, but already the first national titles fell this Saturday afternoon. More than 2,500 people showed up this Saturday to attend the championships, in the presence of many personalities from French judo, such as Clarisse Agbognenou, whose presence was a little last minute surprise, but also Audrey Tcheuméo, Maxime Gaël Ngayap, Joan Benjamin Gaba, Julia Tolofua, Automne Pavia for those we met during our wanderings in the aisles. Everyone took advantage of their presence to interact with the athletes present in Chalon sur Saône.
The configuration of the Coliseum hit the mark, including a press room dedicated to the specialized press and of course, the Coliseum annex, accessible for warm-ups. All those involved in this weekend’s French Championships praised the Chalonnaise organization and especially the infrastructure, which is completely different from the previous French Championships in Normandy.
