Both revalidate the title and aim for the Spanish Championship

Javier and Óscar Drzyzga, brothers and judokas from Valdemoro, were crowned champions in the European Judo Union Madrid Kata Cup 2024 tournament, held on September 7 at the Francisco Valcárcel Sports Pavilion in Madrid. With an impressive score of 364 points, they managed to revalidate the gold they had obtained the previous year in the same competition.

The trajectory of these brothers in judo began at the age of eight, when their parents decided to enroll them in the Valdemoro Judo Club to channel their energy. Since then, judo has become a passion and a fundamental pillar in their lives. In their first competitions, they fought as rivals, even facing each other in the finals, a situation that put their parents on edge. Over the years, both have accumulated important achievements: Óscar was third in the Spanish Championship in 2021, while Javier took bronze in the Suances Spanish Cup that same year.

As they grew up, their coach, Críspulo de la Vega, encouraged them to compete together in kata, specifically Nage No Kata, where technical judo movements are performed in choreographed sequences evaluated by judges. Although the road was arduous, the effort and dedication paid off with their victory in the European tournament.

With the objective achieved, the Drzyzga brothers now have their sights set on their next challenge: winning the Spanish Championship, a goal that has eluded them on two occasions, in which they have come in second place.
