The hosts of the 2027 European Women’s Basketball Championship have been determined

The countries that will host the 2027 European Women’s Basketball Championship have been finalized.

At the FIBA ​​Europe Board of Directors Meeting held in Istanbul, Belgium’s Antwerp and Sweden’s Stockholm were selected as the hosts of the group stage.

Finland and Lithuania were previously announced as the host countries for the championship to be held on 16-27 June 2027, and the cities of Espoo and Vilnius were determined, respectively.

The candidacies of Belgium and Sweden were approved after the application process was extended for additional interest.

GROUP STAGES WILL BE HELD IN 4 CITIES

The group stage matches in the championship will be held in four cities, and the final stage will be held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa stated that they were happy to add Belgium and Sweden to the hosts of the championship and made the following statements:

Together with Finland and Lithuania, we now have four extraordinary hosts who will deliver an unforgettable event. These countries’ experience, passion for basketball and commitment to the growth of women’s basketball will make EuroBasket an incredible tournament in 2027.

FIBA Europe Executive Director Kamil Novak also made the following assessment:

EuroBasket is a celebration of women’s basketball and we are delighted to be able to expand the reach of this tournament across the continent with four different hosts. It is particularly inspiring to see such strong interest from our national federations. This will help organize our most important tournament under the most favorable conditions.
