In the last few days, we have witnessed two buzzer beaters in the NBA. The first signed by Jayson Tatum, to deliver the victory to Boston in the match against the Toronto Raptors, the night between Saturday and Sunday. The second the following day, that of Julius Randle with the Minnesota shirt in the victory over the Phoenix Suns. As usual, the NBA published its Last 2 Minutes Report for the weekend’s games, admitting any refereeing errors: it therefore emerged that both Tatum’s and Randle’s baskets should have been disallowed.
Tatum committed departing stepsmoving both feet before starting off the dribble and putting the decisive triple in the face of Ochai Agbaji. From the video it is clear: if the referees had blown the whistle correctly, the match would have gone to the second OT.

Randle should have gotten a whistle too violation of starting steps. The Timberwolves player moved both feet in reception, helping himself get past Josh Okogie’s defense before putting the ball on the ground. On the court, Phoenix had protested for an alleged offensive foul by Randle, guilty of having pushed Okogie before the shot: according to the NBA, however, in that case there was no impropriety and the referees were right not to blow the whistle. However, if the game had been stopped on the steps of the T’Wolves player, the match would have gone to extra time.
