Following the Panam Sports Executive Committee held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic last week, the date of the next Pan American Games in Lima 2027 was agreed, where the martial arts of Judo, Karate and Taekwondo will be present.
There were three proposals from the Peruvian government on the table. They were willing to organize the Games in the months of May, July or September.
Given this, and after an in-depth analysis by Panam Sports, the Executive Committee agreed that the most important multi-sports festival on the continent will take place between July 16 and August 1, 2027.
“There were several factors to consider to determine the best date for the Games. The proposals were analyzed and finally we have decided with the entire Executive Committee that it would be best to hold them in the month of July, for several reasons, but perhaps the most important, is that on that date we will be able to have the best athletes on the continent participating in Lima,” said the President of Panam Sports, Neven Ilic.
Lima will host the Pan American Games for the second time in history, after the successful event in 2019. The Peruvian capital will thus become the third city in the Americas to organize the continental event for the second time after Mexico City (1955 and 1975) and Winnipeg (1967 and 1999).
