MAZATLAN._ Baseball managed to once again attract the spotlight to the “Pearl of the Pacific” with the start of the Mazatlán Baseball Tournament 2024.
With a majestic start from the Teodoro Mariscal stadium, the tenth edition of the tournament brought together around 70 teams from Aguascalientes, CDMX, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Sonora, as well as from Zacatecas, Sinaloa and the United States.
“Receive a big hug from our President Estrella Palacios Domínguez, who sends you a warm greeting. We are very happy as Mazatlán that they have chosen us to play baseball, we know that they will be well treated this weekend. Go out and play your best baseball,” said Fabiola Judith Verde Rosas, director of the Mazatlán Municipal Sports Institute, representing the President of Mazatlán, Estrella Palacios Domínguez.
Prior to the parade of the ninth contenders for the title that filled the diamond of the Venados de Mazatlán home with life, the Home Run Derby was held with the best hitters from the Senior Child, Minor Youth, Senior and Youth Free categories. The eliminatory round of the tournament will be played starting this Thursday and until next Saturday, at venues such as Teodoro Mariscal, Club Muralla and Unidad Deportiva Benito Juárez.
On Sunday, the semi-final and final round games will be played, a stage in which only the best teams from the children’s, youth and free categories will arrive, representing the 11 states of the Mexican Republic and the United States.
The passion for sports brought together personalities such as Ricardo “Pity” Velarde, Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa; Luis Cornejo, High Commissioner of the Mazatlán Baseball Tournament; Ernesto Noris, operational director of the Mazatlán Baseball Cup; Miguel Ángel Valle, General Director of Valma; as well as Héctor Bache, sales manager of Venados de Mazatlán.
