The curious question after Fenerbahçe’s statement, “We will not send a player to the national team as long as there is Ergin Ataman”, has been answered.
The candidate squad for the National Men’s Basketball Team’s matches against Hungary in the FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers has been announced. Head coach Ergin Ataman did not call any players from Fenerbahçe Beko’s current squad to the candidate squad.
Only Onuralp Bitim, who Fenerbahçe transferred and loaned to Bayern Munich last week, was in the squad.
Ataman, who also coaches Panathinaikos, received a harsh reaction from the yellow-dark blue team after the friendly match against Galatasaray, when he made a ‘3-1’ sign with his fingers, referring to the match in which the yellow-red football team beat Fenerbahçe 3-1. Fenerbahçe had announced that it would not send players to the national team as long as Ataman was there.
