The National Police gets the stadium confused when announcing those arrested for racist insults and turns on Atlético

“We give you a hand.” This is how the last message that Atlético de Madrid has posted on its social networks begins and which is addressed to the National Police. It all arises after the arrest of three people for the racist insults received by Lamine Yamal, in addition to Raphinha and Ansu Fati in the match between Real Madrid and Barcelona that was played at the Santiago Bernabéu on October 26.

This was announced this Saturday by the National Police on its X profile (formerly Twitter), accompanying the text with an unfortunate photograph of two officers with their backs turned in the Metropolitan. «The people who have been arrested are followers of another team from Madrid. The stadium in the photo you have published is ours and has nothing to do with this matter,” they write from the Madrid club. “Surely it’s just a mistake,” they add. The confusion quickly went viral on social media and the National Police modified the message by changing the image of the red-and-white stadium to that of a police car.

The altercation that ended with the arrest of three individuals occurred after the Barça team scored 0-3, achieved by Yamal, when the players were celebrating the goal next to the stands. Shouts of “fucking black” and “fucking monkey” were heard. Later, when Raphinha and Lamine went to take a corner, they shouted again from the stands: “Sell tissues at a traffic light, you piece of shit.” The fans were ‘hunted’ by the cell phone cameras of other attendees and of the television operator itself with the rights to broadcast the match, which made it easier to identify the perpetrators.
