The national rugby team of Latvia, widely represented by the players of Ķekava “Miesnieku” and Garkalne “Livonia” club, convincingly defeated the Estonian national team in the second game of the European Championship “Conference” league subgroup A on Saturday at the Baldones Stadium, thus ending the rugby season in Latvia.
In the game against the inexperienced Estonian national team, which took place in rather difficult weather conditions, Latvian rugby players were clear favourites. And it was confirmed by playing the first half almost according to the “point per minute” schedule and not actually allowing the opponents to get close to the scoreboard (38:0). The many substitutions of players that were made during the break slightly reduced the attacking power of the Latvian national team in the second, but there was no doubt about the superiority of the home team and the opponents did not score any points – 62:0.
Miķelis Jurevičs, Ingus Aivars and Ruslans Sosnars scored two touchdowns each for the Latvian national team, Emīls Balodis, Artūrs Alainis, Uvis Vasiļenko, Leno Bramanis scored one each, while Matīss Zicāns accurately executed six hits.
