The NBA Cup has begun, Fontecchio’s Pistons win

Another night of the NBA was played in the USA and eight games were played in one round of the NBA Cup. Several top teams faced each other on the stars and stripes parquet and Simone Fontecchio‘s Detroit Pistons also took to the field. Here’s how it went.

The Detroit Pistons need overtime to beat the Miami Heat 123-121. Absurd match, with Detroit always in control, even reaching +18, but which collapses at the end of the fourth quarter and is forced to come back. And in overtime it seems that Miami can close it, but one second from the siren Duren equalizes, then comes the free pass for a technical foul called by Miami and the match ends. Therefore, Tyler Herro’s 40 points are not enough for Miami, while Simone Fontecchio’s 10 points should be highlighted, who with a +12 closes with the best plus/minus of Detroit. The Atlanta Hawks beat the Boston Celtics 116-117. Here too, a sensational comeback which ends, however, with Okongwu’s overtaking basket 6″ from the siren which condemns the Celtics. Boston is not enough for Jaylen Brown’s 37 points.

Victory for the Orlando Magic over the Charlotte Hornets 114-89. Match without history, always dominated by the home team and by Franz Wagner who finished with 32 points. LaMelo Ball’s 35 points aren’t enough for Charlotte. The Philadelphia 76ers fall again at home against the New York Knicks 99-111. Knicks who run away in the last quarter and the 76ers are not enough with 29 points and 10 rebounds from Paul George. Finally a smile for the Milwaukee Bucks who beat the Toronto Raptors 99-85. Gradey Dick’s 32 points in a match that saw the Bucks always ahead were not enough for the Canadians.

Away win for i Phoenix Suns beating the Utah Jazz 112-120. Suns always in control of the match, also thanks to 31 points from Devin Booker, while the Jazz are not enough with 29 points and 10 rebounds from John Collins. They also win Portland Trail Blazers beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-108despite Naz Reid’s 28 points. In the end, victory for the Golden State Warriors over the Dallas Mavericks 120-117and where the match between champions was won by Stephen Curry with 37 points and 9 assists, against Luka Doncic’s 31 points and 8 rebounds.
