They will compete in 16 conventional disciplines and 3 adapted sports.

The province of Neuquén will be present at the Evita National Games that will be held starting next Monday in the city of Mar del Plata. The delegation made up of 211 people, including athletes, coaches, referees and companions, will travel this Sunday at 8 p.m. from the Ciudad Deportiva (Lanín and Anaya) in four buses.

The Evita Games, a traditional national competition, have the support of the provincial government and are part of the programs of the Ministry of Human Development, Local Governments and Women, through the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

For his part, Ignacio Russo, Undersecretary of Sports, pointed out that “the disciplines called arose after analyzing those sports that did not have a program within the Neuquén Regional Games and the Araucanía Games, so that everyone can be active.” .

The contest will take place from Monday, November 4th to Saturday, November 9th. In total there will be 178 athletes who will travel this Sunday to Mar del Plata.

Neuquén will be presented in 19 disciplines, including 3 adapted sports. They all correspond to individual sports of the 36 in the national program.

Starting from this edition, the contest is reserved for federated youth athletes, thinking about the talent recruitment process with a view to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The range of ages, aiming at this objective, ranges from 12 to 18 years old.

Neuquén will present boxing teams; gymnastics in its rhythmic and artistic modalities; rugby (will go with a women’s team); 3×3 basketball; taekwondo, beach handball; beach volleyball; badminton; and in new disciplines thinking about Dakar 2026 such as canoeing, hockey, freestyle, BMX cycling, Olympic lifting and archery and rifle shooting.

In adapted sports, the province will have representatives in athletics, swimming and table tennis. In this case there will be 26 athletes.

Traditional competition

This year the Evita Games, created in 1947, will have the participation of more than 8,000 athletes. Since 2008, they have been held permanently in Mar del Plata with a hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced the 2020 and 2021 editions to be suspended.

The Neuquén delegations have stood out in disciplines such as beach handball, basketball, cycling, canoeing, badminton, skate, boxing, athletics, judo, wrestling, volleyball, rugby seven, Olympic lifting and taekwondo.
