the “NonMiViolare” project alongside Motorola and Telefono Rosa – ilBustese.it

Motorola, a leading mobile company, today launches “NonMiViolare“, an important education project on the responsible use of smartphones against revenge porn, in collaboration with Telefono Rosa, the first Italian association alongside women that has offered support to victims of violence since 1988, and with the fundamental support of AC Monza, Pallacanestro Varese and Uyba Volley.

Revenge porn, or the unauthorized disclosure of intimate images or videos, including those manipulated through deepfake technologies that insert a person’s face into pornographic content without their consent, represents a serious form of violence and can lead to serious psychological consequences .

As the World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women approaches, Motorola and its partners will carry out a series of initiatives aimed at raising awareness against this phenomenon.

Pink telephone and Motorola have detected a communication gap with young people on these issues and hence the need for a campaign that can reach young people effectively, designed together with the sports teams, of which Motorola is a sponsor.

The three Serie A sports teams of football, volleyball and basketball, united by the sponsorship of the smartphone brand that wanted to involve them, had the opportunity to join forces and form a single, large team with the aim of sending an even more impactful message to an ever-increasing number of young people.

Sunday 10 November, during the Serie A matches of the three teamsMonza-Lazio, Vero Volley Milano against Uyba Volley and Pallacanestro Varese-Virtus Bologna, the players will take to the field with special shirts: it will be the first moment of activity, which anticipates the important messages of the project.

Instead of the Motorola logo, the uniforms will show the symbol of the awareness campaign: the viewfinder of a camera, a reminder that anyone can be a victim of this crime. A strong gesture to break the silence and encourage victims to report.

The initiative is part of a project that continues the path started last year by Motorola and Telefono Rosa to combat gender violence.

The entire awareness campaign will have its moment of maximum expression during an event to be held on November 20th at 11am, in Spazio Lenovo, the brand’s flagship store.

During the meeting, the results of a survey will be presented which has explored and analyzed the phenomenon of revenge porn, aimed at young people between 18 and 27 years old. Precisely on the basis of this investigation, Motorola and Telefono Rosa are creating a practical guidea digital and smart booklet, which offers young people in simple language the concrete tools to: understand what revenge porn is, what its legal, physical and psychological implications are; prevent it, promoting a culture of respect and awareness online; react in the event of dissemination of intimate images, indicating who to contact and what steps to take to protect oneself.

The material from the survey and the practical guide will be available on the landing page www.NonMiViolare.it, a safe online space dedicated to the fight against violence against women, and will be distributed in schools thanks to the training activities of Telefono Rosa.

Carlo BarloccoExecutive Director, General Manager Italy of Motorola, underlines the company’s commitment: «In an era in which the activities of brands have an impact on the perception of the community, companies have the duty to contribute to responsibly supporting social causes of the country in which they operate, leveraging their values and assets. The importance of educating and providing the tools to combat revenge porn has emerged. This is why we have decided to amplify and give visibility, also thanks to Telefono Rosa and our sports partnerships, to the tools to prevent this phenomenon.”

“We are proud to continue a path, started last year, in defense of women – especially the younger ones – and to provide practical support, available to all, against a serious crime such as revenge porn”, he says Giorgia BulgarellaHead of Marketing of Motorola Italy. «The data is worrying and for a smartphone manufacturing company, like Motorola, it is essential to continuously educate on increasingly responsible and positive use of a powerful tool like the smartphone. We are grateful to Telefono Rosa and all our sporting partners who have allowed us to amplify our project even further, with the aim of reaching those who need it most: the kids.”

Maria Gabriella Carnieri MoscatelliPresident of Telefono Rosa: «We have always believed that to defeat gender violence it is necessary to act before and not after. Prevention is an important weapon in this fight. Educating young men and women about respect and equality is fundamental. How can we be effective? Using their tools and their language. Technology must be our ally and we must all be able to exploit it to create innovation and not new forms of violence. Using your smartphone responsibly is necessary today. We want young men and women to know what cyber violence and revenge porn are and to know that there are ways to ask for help. Thanks to Motorola and all our partners we are providing practical support that we hope will make a difference.”

«Sport has an extraordinary power: reaching young people and transmitting positive values» he states Adriano GallianiCEO AC Monza. «We are proud to join Motorola and Telefono Rosa in this battle against revenge porn.
