First Black Minister in Donald Trump’s Cabinet to Solve Housing Crisis
Scott is the first Black person nominated by Trump to a Cabinet position in his new administration. Turner played football for nine years on three different NFL teams until 2004, is the associate pastor of an evangelical church in Texas and has his own clothing line.
Scott’s duties as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development include: Welt programs to promote affordable housing, support low-income Americans, prevent marketplace discrimination, and promote urban development, among others.

Experts expect he will follow the line announced by Trump’s campaign of cutting funding to the department, reversing Biden-era fair housing policies and overhauling homelessness programs. Housing crisis in the USA: Hope lies with Scott Turner
If he aligns himself with the right-wing fringe of the Trump camp, Tuner could abolish a number of social benefits or tie housing benefits to the concept of a nuclear family. Nevertheless, social housing experts are not giving up hope that Turner will find an answer to the housing crisis in the USA.
“Scott Turner has a strong commitment to community development and was a vocal supporter of investing in underserved communities during the first Trump administration,” said David M. Dworkin, president and chief executive officer of the National Housing Conference, according to information from the New York Times. (lm)
