For the second consecutive year, the Chaumont badminton club is organizing its traditional Poster Tournament at the Louis-Chaillot gymnasium, Saturday November 23 and Sunday November 24. Open to players from the junior category (14 years old) to veterans, the event will bring together all categories of play (men’s and women’s singles, as well as men’s, women’s and mixed doubles).
A competition which already has a record participation of 185 badistas: real good news for the organizing club and its president Delphine Catalifaud. “We couldn’t accommodate more participants. With this figure, we reach our maximum level, both in terms of reception within the infrastructure and “timing” to meet the competition deadlines. We found the ideal date, more wintery of course (the tournament was previously held in spring), but less crowded by competition with other neighboring competitions. »
One tournament, full of regions
In fact, no less than 50 clubs will be represented over the two days, most of them coming from the large north-eastern quarter of France, notably from the Grand-Est, Burgundy, Franche-Comté and Ile-de regions. -France in particular. Haute-Marne will obviously be in the spotlight, with around forty entrants from the three main clubs in the department: 26 from the organizing club, eight from Langres and five from Bettancourt-la-Ferrée.
A federal tournament which, if it does not fall within the framework of an official championship, will nonetheless provide a lot of spectacle, welcoming players up to the National 3 level. “The whole club mobilized to the opportunity. We even have a podium built by students from IME Val-de-Suize, in their wooden workshop,” continues the Chaumont president.
It remains to be hoped that the conditions for playing badminton will meet temperature standards. The only question that still remained to be resolved the day before the competition, in a Louis-Chaillot gymnasium unheated until Friday.
