As part of the relaunch of basketball in Dosso, the Regional Basketball Management Committee organized a competition called the “3/3 sovereignty cup”. A tournament sponsored by the Prefect of the Dosso department, Mrs. Ousseini Ouma Tambari, and which brought together men’s teams from the commune of Dosso and Dogondoutchi. They are Swagga, Firious, UDO, Cristiti and ABC Doutchi.
After 48 hours of competition, the final was played on the afternoon of Monday, November 18, 2024 at the regional stadium, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Prefecture of Dosso, Mr. Ibrahim Abdou Tikiré, members of the regional management committee , the Regional Director of Sports, partners and supporters of the ball in the basket.
After the kick-off, the two teams Swagga and Firious delivered a fairly fluid game and interesting actions. At the end, it was the “Firious” team who won the final against the “Swagga” team by a score of 7 to 3.
The winning team received a cup with an envelope and the losing team received a consolation prize. The Doutchi team settled for a fair play award. Testimonials of satisfaction were awarded by the organizers to the Prefect of the Dosso department and to certain partners whose financial contribution made it possible to hold the tournament.
The President of the Dosso Regional Basketball Management Committee, Mr. Garba Seyni Ibrahim, made a positive assessment and thanked the Prefect of the department and certain basketball players for their involvement in the organization of the basketball cup. 3/3 sovereignty, but also the enthusiasm that this aroused among the youth of the Dosso region. Other tournaments are announced, hence the appeal to sponsors and authorities.
