Provincial roads worked hard to clear the route and guarantee access to the hot springs, whose opening is scheduled for December 1.
“The route that goes to Copahue was enabled,” reported the president of provincial roads Jose German. Almost a month of intense work required the tasks of snow clearing and road conditioning on provincial route 27, to ensure passability for the opening of the thermal season scheduled for next December 1.
Provincial Highway Operators and teams completed work this week on the 18-kilometer stretch that connects the towns of Caviahue and Copahue. This sector is known for its difficult access during the winter season, due to the large accumulation of snow that makes it impassable.
Conservation District 6 of the Provincial Highway Directorate began these tasks in mid-October. The objective was to facilitate access for the staff of the Provincial Entity of Termas that is in charge of preparing the facilities of the balneotherapy complex to receive visitors who choose Copahue in the summer season. In fact, EPROTEN personnel and machinery collaborated with Highways in clearing the route.
From now on, the EPEN and the EPAS will also be able to begin essential work for the operation of their services in Copahue, contributing to an optimal start to the thermal season.
The accumulation of snow on this route is a common phenomenon that forces authorities to implement specific measures to guarantee safety and access to the region. Clearing tasks are essential not only for traffic, but also for the economic development of the area, which depends largely on summer tourism.
