During this past weekend, a good and wide representation of Judo from Melilla traveled to the Spanish Cadet Cup, the International Columbian Trophy that was held in the Huelva town of Palos de la Frontera, where some of the best judokas in the whole city met. Spain who did not want to miss this event at the national level. Melilla sports were present by the Sakura Dojo Club competition team who showed their best version although the bad version prevented some of their athletes from being able to fight for the medals in contention.

The day began with great enthusiasm, opening the morning for the Melilla Judo Federation team with its first fight. Rafael Rosa, who woke up sick with stomach colic, was winning by wasari, demonstrating an excellent level, but the fight was unjustly taken away from him due to accumulation. of sanctions, which was later lifted, but despite the efforts of the medical team he was unable to continue in the sporting competition.

He was followed by Miguel Fernández who took all the initiative in the fight, reaching the end of the four minutes and lost at the time limit. He had no chance of being caught during the Huelva event.

Almost at the same time, Zoel Tahar was also competing, taking his fight to the limit, losing due to a miscalculation. It could not be refished either. Adrián Muñoz, with tough judo, did not pass his first round, but he was retaken and deservedly won his fight, reaching the gates of bronze, but when he reached the next fight at Golden Score, he lost by the minimum, and at the same time the possibility of bronze medal demonstrating excellent evolution in his judo.

Juan Pablo Gallego Sabio did not pass the first fight and the fight was also unjustly taken away from him, just like Rafael and Adrián. He could not be re-fished but he showed that he had improved his level of judo even more.

Ilies Salih began to fight very hard but could not advance until the minute of combat, because his opponent was waiting for him and caught him.

Rayan Mohamed, he faced the first fight with great gallantry but lost. He was caught and sinned against his opponent, who was a seasoned judoka, losing his chances for a bronze medal.

We must thank them and their families, from the Melilla judo federation, for the enormous physical and economic effort that both parties have had to face, in order to continue carrying the name of our city with the sport that, from the cradle, has come to them. several of them, which they are so passionate about.

All Melilla athletes upon their return from this very high level competition in the world of judo will continue with their training sessions for the next competitions where they will participate.
