For the first time, the German Association Team Championships took place high up in the north.
Our assumption that this would now also reach significantly more Nordic teams from the federal states of Lower Saxony, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein unfortunately turned out to be a misinterpretation. Thirteen teams from 4 federal states took part in the annual competition in Norderstedt (Schleswig-Holstein), men’s and women’s teams as well as corresponding mixed teams in both competition classes 1 and 2.
After all, there were six associations represented: Rhineland and Palatinate as well as Baden and Württemberg competed together as a federal state, while NRW and Bavaria completed the starting list.
From a Bavarian perspective, unfortunately some hopes of winning the title were not fulfilled. Injuries and illnesses were ultimately the deciding factor for very close results, so that our long-term competitors from North Rhine-Westphalia were once again able to win five out of six possible titles.
As always, there were only 2 teams in the “premier class” WK 1: Bayern as defending champions in 2023 and NRW. Unfortunately, the weight class up to 73 kg went to the opponents without a fight in the “best of three” comparison, so the two 2:3 defeats were felt very painfully and only meant the “vice championship”.
The mixed team WK 2, which was very unfortunate against NRW, was also at eye level. A lost first round was followed by a 3:3 draw and a tiebreaker had to be drawn. Tobias Reineck had already won up to 90 kg in the regular round, but surprisingly suffered a defeat, so that the second encounter was lost 3:4.
The men’s team in WW2 had great ambitions for the title. At the beginning, the strong team from Rhineland-Palatinate was narrowly defeated 3-2 in exciting individual battles over the entire duration of the fight. A very clear 1:4 defeat followed against NRW, but with the 3:2 victory over Baden-Württemberg the runner-up title was at least achieved here too.
Unfortunately, there were two injury-related absences in the women’s WK 2, so it was difficult from the start to make up for the 0-2 deficit. This made it quite easy for the defending champions from Baden-Württemberg to defend their title in the best of three with just one point lead.

With the exception of Franziska Reinsperger from TV Erlangen, the Bayern teams were made up exclusively of athletes from SF Harteck Munich/Augustinum. The teams were coached by Marina Müller (TV Erlangen), Pit and Gülfidan Franz (SF Harteck Munich), Cayan Kaya and Alwin Brenner (SF Harteck/ Augustinum Munich).
Overall, the DVMM was carried out by the Norderstedt Judo Club with a lot of commitment. For the first time, the club dared to hold an ID competition and to gain experience for further events in this direction. Perhaps it is also an incentive to motivate the northern and eastern federal states for this very exciting team championship.
The Bavarian judoka took advantage of the long journey to extend a day in order to get to know the Hanseatic city of Hamburg a little more culturally. The botanical garden, Japanese garden, the customs museum, the Elbphilharmonie and a small boat trip in the harbor complemented the sporting experiences of our judoka, who all enjoyed this additional day with great interest.
