Spain is already finalizing preparations to, this coming February, fight to once again be among the best teams in the world within the World Baseball Classic scheduled for 2026. The Spanish team will take part in the qualifier scheduled in Taipei during the month of February, where they will face the teams of Chinese Taipei, South Africa and Nicaragua. The two best teams in this qualifying phase (the best team in the first round and the winner of the match between the second and third teams on Tuesday, February 25) will get a direct pass to the World Baseball Classic scheduled for 2026.where there are only four places left to be distributed among the best four teams of the two preliminary tournaments planned.
The calendar that Spain will face in Taipei will be the following:
- Friday, 02/21: Spain vs. Argentina China Taipei
- Saturday, 02/22: Spain vs. Nicaragua
- Domingo, 23/02: South Africa vs. Spain
- Martes, 02/25: 2nd classified vs. 3rd place
The Spanish team will head to Taiwan at the beginning of February with the aim of returning to a competition in which Spain already participated in 2013, falling short of the last edition (2022) after losing in the finals against Gran Brittany and Czech Republic. In this 2026 edition, the Spanish team arrives with the banner of current European champion, after having lifted the trophy in the last edition of Eurobaseball after beating the Netherlands in the semifinals and Great Britain in the grand final, two countries that They will participate in the next WBC.
During the same month of February, the second qualifying tournament will also take place, this one in Tucson (Arizona) in which four more countries will fight for two places in the tournament scheduled for next year. These will be Brazil, Colombia, China and Germany. The two best teams from both qualifiers will be distributed by lottery among the four venues already planned for the World Baseball Classic, among which there are already the best teams in the world. The groups are formed as follows:

- Pool B (Houston, EEUU): United States, Mexico, Italy and Great Britain
- Pool C (Tokyo, Japan): Japan, Australia, South Korea and Czech Republic
- Pool D (Miami, USA): Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Netherlands and Israel
